Wireless chip is compatible with smart meters around the world
For communication over relatively long distances, such as in smart meters, home or building security systems, smart-agriculture and gas/fire alarms, a sub-GHz wireless communication device has been announced by Lapis Semiconductor.
The ML7345 delivers high performance communication with low power consumption, says the company. It covers 160 to 960MHz, providing universal compatibility. A high-frequency amplifier achieves environmental stability more than three times the transmission power temperature resistance, simplifying wireless network configuration (i.e. of smart meters) while improving reliability by reducing the number of relays.
A high-speed radio wave check function performs receiver start-up in a short period of time, and reduced sleep current during standby decreases average current by 48 per cent, compared with conventional products, says the company.
