Smart charger automatically detects battery cells

A smart charger for NiMH and NiCD batteries from Powersolve will auto-detect and charge eight to 15 cells in series, at between 9.6 and 18V DC.

The PSCH30 charger operates from a universal 90 to 264V AC and incorporates safety features such as automatic cut-off when the cells are fully charged, and battery over-temperature protection using a thermal sensor. Over-voltage and short circuit protection are also standard.

A switch allows users to select the charge current between 0.9 to 1.8A while charging status is indicated by LED.

The charger is housed in a compact, desk-top plastic enclosure (120 x 60 x 38mm), and supplied as standard with an IEC320 C14, three-pin AC input connector. The output lead is 1.2m, terminated in a four-pin Toby KPPX-4P connector. Optional output connectors are available on request.

The CE marked charger meets all relevant safety and EMC standards including UL1310, CISPR22 B, FCC Part 15 B and EN55022 B.
