Compact machine vision board reduces prototype manufacturing times
Customisable, due to interchangeable central processor unit (CPU) and input/outputs (I/Os), the Epic-KBS7 is the latest four-inch board released by Aaeon.
It ensures consistently low production costs, claims Aaeon, with expanded I/O for machine vision in industrial applications.
Aaeon, a developer of Industry 4.0 computing solutions, says the Epic-KBS7 effectively lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO) by up to 20 per cent in system assembly. The Epic-KBS7 provides interchangeable CPUs and a dynamic design, allowing the customer to tailor the board according to a project’s needs.
The four-inch Epic-KBS7 uses a dynamic and durable system assembly model to achieve I/O flexibility beyond typical industrial requirements, claims Aaeon. It is designed to shorten lead-time and decrease prototyping manufacturing time costs. The Epic-KBS7 is a small but powerful form factor that will meet the demands of the smart industrial management and automation.
Connectivity includes four universal serial bus (USB) 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports and two Giga local area network (LAN) ports, along with video graphics array (VGA), high-definition media interface (HDMI), low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) and Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) support. The pin-compatible socket Kabylake design enables a choice of interchangeable CPUs to be selected. Additionally, the Epic-KBS7 supports a wide voltage power input ranging from 9.0 to 24V and an operational temperature range of 0 to +60 degree C, making it suitable for industrial factory environments. Turnaround time is effectively decreased as the only time required for board design is I/O board manufacturing, enabling quick customisation.
The Epic-KBS7 is intended for machine vision in industrial automation. It can be used in surveillance systems, data collection and assimilation, and cyber control systems.
