Software Risk Manager simplifies application security testing

Software which combines policy-driven test orchestration and vulnerability management is available from Synopsys to simplify and streamline application security testing.

The application security posture management (ASPM) software enables security and development teams to simplify, align and streamline application security testing across projects, teams and application security testing (AST) tools. It aligns intelligent policy-driven orchestration and vulnerability management capabilities with the Synopsys Software Integrity Group’s SAST and SCA engines, with support for other open source and commercial AST tools. The ASPM software also delivers an enhanced ability to implement application security consistently across any organisation, said Synopsys.

ASPM analyses security signals across software development, deployment, and operations to improve visibility, better manage vulnerabilities and enforce controls. Security leaders can use ASPM to improve application security efficacy and better manage risk, said market analyst, Gartner. 

The analyst company predicts that by 2026, more than 40 per cent of organisations developing proprietary applications will adopt ASPM to rapidly identify and resolve application security issues.

Software Risk Manager is built Synopsys’ Code Dx and Intelligent Orchestration products which have been redesigned and enhanced to deliver a comprehensive ASPM solution. The software allows teams to implement policy driven application security at scale. It allows users to centrally define and enforce universal security policies which specify parameters for test execution and vulnerability management. It also allows users to maximise existing security investments by unifying disparate application security testing tools. It also allows users transition and consolidate tools across teams.

Consolidating vulnerability reporting and management across projects, teams and tools allows users to obtain a complete picture of security risks that is normalised, deduplicated and prioritised across tools.

Another function of the Software Risk Manager is to integrate security workflows within existing developer toolchains and systems and enable quick onboarding for existing projects and builds.

Synopsys Software Integrity Group provides software security products and services and interoperates with third-party and open source tools. Synopsys specialises in electronic design automation (EDA) and semiconductor IP and a portfolio of application security testing tools and services. Customers are SoC designers creating advanced semiconductors and software developers.

Accelerators extend Hailo-8 AI portfolio for edge AI

The Hailo-8 Century and Hailo-8L AI accelerators have been added to the Hailo-8 portfolio to enable high performance AI in edge devices ranging from entry level to high-capacity deployments, said Hailo.

The Hailo-8 AI accelerator offers hundreds of successful deployments in customer programs and products. The new high-performance Hailo-8 Century PCIe card line offers up to 208T operations per second (TOPS) for most demanding applications. Hailo adds that the Hailo-8L makes advanced AI processing available for entry-level applications. 

“The expansion of our Hailo-8 AI accelerator portfolio is unlocking new opportunities for our customers to harness real-time, power-efficient intelligence in a diverse range of applications and industries,” said Orr Danon, CEO of Hailo. “With the rise of generative AI driven applications, our . . . solutions bring unmatched AI performance and power efficiency, enabling state-of-the-art transformer-based models such as ViT, CLIP and SAM, at the edge,” he said.

The Hailo-8L has up to 13TOPS and is designed to support entry level products requiring limited AI capacity or lower performance. The Hailo-8 Century line comprises PCIe cards delivering 52 to 208TOPS for demanding applications such as video management systems handling a large number of video streams. The Hailo-8 Century PCIe cards deliver best-in-class power efficiency at 400FPS per Watt on the ResNet50 benchmark model. They are also cost-efficient said Hailo, representing up to 70 per cent reduction in edge AI deployment costs. The robust design supports industrial temperature ranges and ensures compatibility with virtually any environment or application, said the company. 

The Hailo-8 Century products can be used where AI compute power is large camera deployments is required, such as security, retail and smart cities for video analytics.

Hailo-8 Century and Hailo-8L deliver low latency, high efficiency processing and are capable of handling complex pipelines with multiple real-time streams and concurrent processing of multiple models and AI tasks. The expanded portfolio of Hailo-8 products features seamless scalability for future upgrades. All products are compatible with the same field-proven and comprehensive Hailo-8 software suite.

The Hailo-8L can run the benchmark classification model ResNet50 at 500 FPS, and the Century high performance PCIe cards can run this model at up to 10K FPS, outperforming Nvidia’s comparable products in performance, cost efficiency and power efficiency parameters.

IoT gateways is secure for industrial use, says iWave

External watchdog timers support the emergency safe shutdown and auto reboot logic to ensure that the gateway remains operational even in the event of a crash. The gateway can be remotely managed, allowing administrators to configure and monitor the gateway from anywhere.

The gateway is built on a modular architecture that allows IoT sensors to be scaled-up or scale-down to meet the needs of any application, said iWave. It can be easily expanded by adding additional modules, such as wireless connectivity, interface, and storage modules.

The industrial IoT gateways facilitate the communication between IoT devices, machinery, sensors, and factory equipment, as well as communication between these devices and the cloud. They enable remote monitoring of factory assets and control of such assets.

The IIoT gateway enables real-time monitoring of PLCs, provides remote access for diagnostics and troubleshooting, offers data visualisation and analytics, and allows for integration with higher-level manufacturing systems. It enhances the efficiency, visibility, and control of PLC operations, enabling proactive maintenance, optimization, and decision-making in manufacturing plants.

In industrial settings, the industrial IoT gateway can be used to regularly monitor and manage energy consumed by machines. Sensors, meters and other IoT devices can be used to track how much energy each piece of equipment consumes to optimise energy use and boost overall efficiency by collecting energy utilisation parameters.

NFC antennas expand Amphenol RF portfolio for keyless access

The near field communication (NFC) antennas that Amphenol RF has added to its portfolio of internal RF antennas support keyless access and smart tag applications. The antennas are easy to use, said the company and are designed to support NFC Forum standards.

NFC antennas offer high performance capabilities which support NFC Forum wireless standards. They are available in standard configurations with adhesive mount options. They are short range internal antennas which operate at 13.56MHz and are therefore suitable for compact IoT devices such as smartphones, tablets and portable gaming systems as well as in payment readers and ticketing systems. They are also commonly used in devices that require pairing with a Bluetooth device.

NFC antennas are extremely small in size and are manufactured from either PI or FR-4 materials, with or without ferrite and adhesive.
