Rutronik adds SoC from Nordic for advanced Bluetooth LE and Matter applications

With the nRF54LM20A, Rutronik is expanding its SoC portfolio with the latest component from Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF54L series. This flexible wireless SoC combines an ultra-low-power 2.4 GHz radio with 128 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 processor, extensive peripherals and scalable memory configurations. Thanks to integrated high-speed USB, extended memory (2 MB NVM, 512 KB RAM) and modern security functions, the nRF54LM20A enables energy-efficient designs for future-oriented applications such as wearables, gaming peripherals or smart home solutions. The nRF54LM20A SoC and the matching nRF54LM20-DK are available for pre-order. The official sales launch is planned for Q1 / 2026.

The nRF54LM20A complements the nRF54L series and impresses with even more performance and flexibility. Proprietary technologies such as low-leakage RAM and advanced multi-protocol radio design significantly reduce power consumption – a key advantage for developers looking to reduce battery size or extend battery life.

To support cost optimisation and flexibility in the design cycle, the SoCs are available in memory and package configurations with up to 66 GPIOs including pin-to-pin options.

The associated development kit (nRF54LM20-DK) provides a complete functional overview on one board. It is supported by the nRF Connect SDK and tools and enables a quick start. Free training courses from the Nordic Developer Academy round off the offer for developers.

IBASE launches compact edge computer with USB-C 60W power delivery

IBASE Technology has announced the launch of the ACS100, a compact edge computer optimised for automation control and industrial IoT edge applications. The ACS100 features a USB Type-C port supporting DP Alternate Mode with power delivery up to 60W, offering enhanced connectivity flexibility and simplified system integration for demanding deployments.

Powered by Intel Core 3 N355, Atom N150 or N97 processors, the ACS100 delivers competitive processing performance in a compact 167 x 110 x 54 mm form factor. It serves as a scaled-down version of the previously released ACS200 system, providing similar reliability in a smaller, space-efficient design. Its USB-C port supports both data transfer and bidirectional power delivery, effectively reducing cable complexity in confined installations. Peripheral devices such as displays, sensors, or downstream modules can be powered directly through the ACS100’s USB-C PD port, eliminating the need for additional power adapters.

The ACS100 enables connection to high-power, high-brightness industrial monitors ranging from 15.6″ to 27″ via a single USB-C cable. Compatible models include IBASE IPPL-W156, IPPL-W215, and IPPL-W270 industrial-grade monitors. The system supports a 19V to 24V DC power input and provides a rich set of I/O interfaces, including 2x COM, 2x USB 3.2, 4x USB 2.0, 3x M.2 sockets, and 1x Nano SIM slot. Combining compact design, versatile power delivery, and robust I/O connectivity, the ACS100 delivers exceptional performance and flexibility for next-generation edge computing applications.

Sfera Labs Introduces SuperCaps UPS Expansion Board for Strato Pi Max

Sfera Labs has released the new SuperCaps UPS X2-Series Expansion Board, bringing integrated, supercapacitor-based backup power to its Strato Pi Max XL and XS servers.

The Strato Pi Max is based on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 or 5, with a wide range of swappable expansion boards that adapt it to countless applications. With the addition of the SuperCaps UPS, the platform now gains built-in protection against power interruptions, ensuring continuous operation and safeguarding critical data.

The SuperCaps UPS expansion board integrates with the Strato Pi Max ecosystem and is particularly valuable in environments where short power outages are common, such as industrial automation systems, building management controllers, smart grids, and edge computing nodes, where even brief interruptions can cause downtime, loss of sensor data, or interrupted communication with the cloud. The expansion board also enables sending alerts when a power outage occurs, allowing remote monitoring systems to react quickly and prevent wider disruption. In applications like industrial databases or logging systems, the ability to perform a clean shutdown ensures data integrity and prevents corruption of critical files.

Unlike the existing UPS expansion board for Strato Pi Max, which requires an external lead-acid or AGM battery, the new SuperCaps UPS uses high-capacity supercapacitors directly integrated on the board. This results in a more compact, durable, and installation-friendly solution, eliminating the need for external cabling, bulky batteries, or periodic battery replacement.

With this launch, Sfera Labs further extends the flexibility of the Strato Pi Max ecosystem, giving engineers and system integrators a reliable tool for deploying resilient industrial, IoT, and edge computing solutions in the most demanding environments.
