Arrow Electronics launches intelligent vision ecosystem

Arrow Electronics is utilising the onsemi Imager Access System (IAS) module standard for developing intelligent vision solutions for use in robotics, machine vision, commercial cameras and other uses.

The solution reduces the design complexities that are common with designing a product that utilises image sensors. Part of that complexity is there is no standardisation of the hardware interfaces of the different technology blocks. This is where the onsemi IAS module standard comes in and is adopted throughout the ecosystem.

Working with Appletec, Arrow developed the newest IAS module, AP-VISION-AR0830-83 that utilises the latest generation of onsemi image sensors.

“The onsemi Hyperlux LP family of sensors set a new industry benchmark for ultra-low power sensor design. Combined with a small form factor, purpose-oriented features and best-in-class imaging, Hyperlux LP will be a fixture for smart home, office, and robotics for years to come,” said Stephen Harris, senior director of marketing for onsemi’s Industrial and Commercial Sensing Division. “onsemi is now able to bring the newest high-performance, feature-rich 4k sensor in the Hyperlux family, AR0830, to market with Arrow’s IAS module, allowing our customers to reduce camera development efforts significantly with best-in-class module design.”

This new module joins the existing portfolio of IAS modules offered by Arrow and Appletec.

Arrow worked with its company, eInfochips, and onsemi to develop drivers that enable the Appletec IAS modules to work with leading embedded processors.
“eInfochips has extensive experience in developing end-to-end vision solutions. This includes hardware design, image sensor integration and tuning, image processing, image driver development, low latency streaming and AI Inferencing on edge/cloud,” said Gaurav Patel, vice president and general manager of product engineering services for eInfochips. “Companies rely on eInfochips to deliver innovative vision solutions and accelerate and de-risk design cycles.”

Integrated LQ050XX load switch ICs from Littelfuse now at Rutronik

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, Littelfuse’s LQ050XX integrated load switch ICs offer the industry’s highest performance with ultra-low power consumption. They make it possible to reduce parasitic leakage currents, improve system efficiency, and extend battery life. That means a real upgrade for a wide range of applications, e.g. in wearables, smart homes, or IoT devices.

The integrated load switch ICs are available in different housing sizes from 0.77 mm x 0.77 mm x 0.46 mm to 0.97 mm x 1.47 mm x 0.55 mm. Their small size makes them particularly suitable for applications with limited space. The switches are robust, particularly power-saving and, thanks to the cutting-edge technology they contain, can deliver market-leading performance in terms of low quiescent current and switch-off current. In addition, they impress with low power losses and reduced leakage currents for extremely convincing efficiency.

The ICs are available in the following versions:
LQ05021QCS4:
The load switch delivers 2 A rated power. The integrated slew rate control improves system reliability and reduces voltage fluctuations on the bus. Together with its outstanding efficiency, this makes it the ideal solution for applications such as IoT or wearables.
LQ05021RCS4:
The IC has a high efficiency and the leading True Reverse Current Blocking (TRCB) technology. Together with a particularly low threshold voltage, the LQ05021RCS4 prevents reverse current when Vout exceeds Vin, minimises power loss during operation, and offers an extremely low switch-off current. The switch is predestined for wearables, portable electrical devices, or IoT applications.
LQ05022QCS4:
This switch is also equipped with slew rate control, which limits the inrush current and thus minimises the voltage drop. The LQ05022QCS4 supports a wide input voltage range, which optimises both the service life and the reliability of a system. The component can also be used in different voltage rails. Preferred applications include data storage, IoT devices, or low-power subsystems.
LQ05041QCS6
The LQ05041QCS6 has a rated power of 4 A. It has an integrated slew rate control and also a slew rate control. With six bumps and a size of 0.97 mm x 1.47 mm x 0.55 mm, it is particularly small and is primarily used in data storage, or the medical sector.
LQ05041RCS6
With its leading TRCB technology and extremely low threshold voltage, the switch prevents reverse currents and minimises power loss during operation. Its main areas of application include portable devices and power-saving subsystems.

Arrow simplifies AI development with maker-friendly FPGA board and demo

Arrow Electronics is easing AI development for professionals and makers with the CYC5000 FPGA board in a compact 25.0mm x 70.7mm form factor. The plug-and-play board, with Arduino-compatible header, simplifies building IoT edge devices leveraging the programmable logic, RISC-V with Altera’s Nios V, DSP accelerators, and hard IP blocks.
Easy to use, and containing an Arrow USB Programmer2 on-board, the CYC5000 is ready to use for an AI camera application with a neural network running on the device. The board is optimised for low power consumption, and can be used for learning, proof of concept, or full production in customised versions.

The Altera Cyclone V FPGA, as the main feature of the CYC5000, has 25,000 logic elements, 25 DSP blocks, 50 18×18 multipliers, and FPGA memory blocks on-chip. The board also contains 64MBit SDRAM and 64MBit Flash, a USB interface, and runs from a single 5V supply.

In addition to the Arduino header, a CRUVI connector eases adding high-speed signal adapters for extra interfaces and applications. The AI camera demo uses an image sensor connected via the CRUVI adapter and runs a convolutional neural network, image filtering, MIPI in, and HDMI out, on the Cyclone V. Implemented in less of half of the FPGA’s available logic elements, the algorithm can analyse 10k samples per second, at only a few hundred milliwatts, highlighting opportunities for edge AI with a green footprint.

Siretta Quartz-Gold-5G routers support rapid data transfer for industrial IoT applications

Mouser Electronics is now stocking the Quartz-Gold-5G industrial routers from Siretta. Designed to transfer large amounts of data via the 5G NR cellular network, the QUARTZ-GOLD-5G routers are high-speed dual-port gigabit Ethernet industrial routers capable of reaching 2.4 Gbps download and 900 Mbps upload speeds. The QUARTZ-GOLD-5G routers are an ideal choice for the management of remote systems and communication channels, supporting a range of industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications, including security, renewable energy, traffic control, and environmental monitoring.

The Quartz-Gold-5G Routers feature a robust, compact design, as well as fallback options to 4G/LTE and 3G/UMTS communication should 5G NR be unavailable. The router’s software supports a broad range of high-end VPN security protocols, allowing the router to be safely deployed in commercial and industrial environments. The Quartz-Gold-5G router also offers an RS232 interface that may be used to connect serial ports on products such as door access controllers and alarm panels to the Internet. The router allows connected equipment to directly interrogate the connection status, signal strength and network parameters, allowing remote systems to run autonomously in the field.

The Quartz-Gold-5G routers are based on a MediaTek 880MHz MIPS dual-core processor with 256 Mbytes flash and 2 Gbytes of DDR3 RAM running on a Linux-based operating system. The cellular capabilities of the routers are powered by the Quectel RM500QAE module, which uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G modem.
