Mouser shares design solutions for advanced robotics development

Mouser Electronics has announced a new interactive eBook in collaboration with electronics manufacturer and connectivity innovator Molex.

This new interactive eBook examines how advances in connectivity, power management, and user interfaces are propelling robotics from the factory floor to household and commercial use. Reliable connectors, sensors, and real-time processing enable these robots to navigate, interact, and perform tasks efficiently in everyday environments. The eBook includes articles, videos, and an interactive infographic detailing the ways in which robotics will become ubiquitous in our everyday lives.

The eBook details the challenges designers face in building personal and home robots. These robots will need to interact with humans using voice commands, touchscreen controls, and apps. They will also need to be capable of autonomous mapping and developing efficient, safe routes to complete their tasks while optimising battery life. The underlying technologies, such as chargers, sensors, processors, and actuators, require effective, reliable interconnect components and assemblies to carry power and signal throughout each robot. Molex offers a comprehensive line of interconnect products, available from Mouser, to facilitate manufacturing and ensure reliability throughout the robots’ life cycle.

The Molex Premo-Flex flat flexible cable (FFC) Jumpers enable designers to maximise PCB space, reduce component costs, and provide devices with reliable board-to-board connections, making them well-suited for robotic applications. The series is offered in lengths, pitches and circuit sizes designed to solve complex board-to-board interconnection challenges in compact or hard-to-reach applications.

The MX150 mid-voltage connectors are designed to meet the growing demand for 48V electrical systems. Part of the extended Molex MX150 connector family, this sealed connector system is field-proven and offers highly reliable performance under extreme temperatures, varying degrees of vibration, and exposure to moisture and chemicals for a variety of applications.

The Squba 1.8mm/3.6mm sealed wire-to-wire connectors feature a protected, low-profile positive latch to reduce the overall component size, while the 1.8 mm pitch further alleviates space constraints. Molex Squba connectors have a contact resistance of 10 milliohms and are ideal for a wide range of space-constrained applications such as robotics and industrial controls.

Mouser now stocking new TDK converters for AI, IoT, 5G, and big data

Mouser is now shipping the new FS160x µPOL DC-DC converters from TDK. The FS160x µPOL DC-DC converters feature full telemetry and increased performance in a compact, power-dense package. These converters are ideal for big data, artificial intelligence (AI), 5G cells, and IoT.

The FS160x µPOL DC-DC converters are easy to integrate and offer a wide input voltage range of 4.2V to 16V and three continuous load capacities: 3A, 4A, and 6A. The FS160x µPOL low-profile package (3.3 × 3.3 × 1.35 mm) is suitable for automated assembly using standard surface-mount equipment and features an on-chip pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller and integrated MOSFETs, with an incorporated inductor and capacitors, creating an extremely compact and accurate regulator.

The FS160x µPOLs device’s built-in protections include pre-biased start-up, overvoltage protection, soft-start protection, thermal shutdown with auto-recovery, and thermally compensated overcurrent protection with hiccup mode. The TDK FS160x µPOL DC-DC converters feature full telemetry for high power-density applications with optimised construction that delivers extraordinary power density in surprisingly small modules, with a wide operating range from -40 °C to 125 °C.

Mouser also stocks the TDK EV1603-5000-A evaluation boards, which provide a demonstration and development platform for the FS160x µPOL DC-DC converters. The evaluation boards provide an example application circuit, allowing rapid prototyping when incorporated into existing designs.

Quectel Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth 5.3 modules for smart and industrial IoT applications

Mouser is now shipping the new FCMA62N Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth 5.3 modules from Quectel. The FCMA62N modules boast an ultra-compact LCC form factor (38.3mm × 21.6mm × 4.75mm), with multiple low-power consumption modes and custom features that provide flexibility and versatility for smart homes, industrial IoT, automotive, and medical device applications.

The Quectel FCMA62N modules are optimised for size and cost savings with an integrated, high-performance Arm® Cortex®-M33 processor running up to 260MHz. These devices support the IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax Wi-Fi protocol and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.3. The modules feature built-in 1.2MB SRAM and 8MB flash, ensuring efficient performance that complies with WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, and WPA3-SAE security standards with an AES-128 encryption algorithm.

The FCMA62N modules support UART, SWD, and GPIO interfaces (by default), as well as SPI, I2C, I2S, and PWM interfaces in Quectel’s QuecOpen solutions. QuecOpen is a development platform that enables Quectel IoT modules to act as the main processor for an IoT device, allowing customers to program their own applications alongside the module’s standard processes. The FCMA62N modules support both the QuecOpen solution and standard AT commands with a compact protocol that enhances user product development.

The FCMA62N modules are supported by the FCMA62NABTB-0P-08 and FCMA62NABTB-1X-08 evaluation boards. The evaluation boards each feature a pre-mounted FCMA62N module, debugger, and PCB antenna.

Infineon PSOC Control C3 MCUs for Next-Generation Motor Control now at mouser

Mouser is now stocking the PSOC Control C3 microcontrollers (MCUs) from Infineon Technologies. The PSOC Control C3 MCUs combine power and performance, allowing designers to bring the next generation of industrial solutions to the market. Developed specifically for motor control applications, the PSOC Control CM3 product line is ideal for EV charging, industrial motor control, robotics, server and telecom power supply units (PSUs), and smart home appliances.

The Infineon Technologies PSOC Control C3 microcontrollers, now available at Mouser, feature an Arm® Cortex®-M33-based core with real-time control for high-performance motor control products. A 12-bit, 12-Msps ADC with true synchronous “idle” sampling of up to 16 analogue signals delivers results up to 25% faster without sampling jitter, while a CORDIC Accelerator can switch off the CPU and increase computational power for real-time critical tasks. The PSOC MCUs also integrate a programmable timer/counter pulse-width modulator (TCPWM) with a Motion Interface (MOTIF) block that can be used to communicate motor control signals. These dedicated subsystems allow the PSOC MCU to reduce the system bill of materials (BOM) while improving the performance of next-gen products. The PSOC Control MCUs are PSA Certified™ Level 2, featuring advanced security features such as cryptography, secure boot, and processing isolation. The MCUs are delivered with ready-to-use code examples and development tools supported in the ModusToolbox™ software suite.

Infineon Technologies offers two development kits for the PSOC Control C3 Microcontrollers. The PSOC Control C3M5 Evaluation Kit is for developing motor control solutions using PSOC Control C3. The kit includes a PSOC Control C3M5 EVK board, a USB Type-A to USB Type-C® cable, jumper wires, and a quick start guide. The PSOC Control C3M5 Complete System Motor Control Kit offers a C3M5 motor control card for developing motor control solutions in combination with power stage evaluation boards.
