Adapter board allows machine learning based sensor fusion

The latest addition to Rutronik System Solutions’ board family is the RAB1 – Sensorfusion. The adapter board offers its own platform that allows machine learning (ML) -based sensor fusion, which forms the basis and the future of artificial intelligence (AI).

It is equipped with sensors from Infineon, Bosch SE and Sensirion. (All sensors are also available in Rutronik’s product portfolio.)

It can be used as a development tool to shorten time to market for a range of applications of sensor fusion, such as air quality measurement or smoke and gas detectors.

Combining and linking different measured values from several sensors, or sensor fusion, is important to gain information, explained Rutronik. The RAB1 Sensorfusion board allows developers to test and select the most suitable components or combination of sensors for an application. The board features the DPS310 barometric air pressure sensor from Infineon, the BMI270 IMU and the BME688 intelligent gas sensor from Bosch Sensortec and the SGP40-D-R4 and the SHT41-AD1B-R2 temperature and humidity sensor from Sensirion. These components can be tested individually or in combination using the board. Rutronik System Solutions provides the software including various application examples. It also has an Arduino interface for use with all other boards, including the Rutronik Basis Board RDK2.

Rutronik helps designers reduce time to market for IoT with LTE data card

Telit’s LN920 LTE data card with an integrated Qualcomm Snapdragon X12+ LTE modem is now available from Rutronik. The compact M.2 form factor measures just 30 x 42 x 2.4mm, making it suitable for laptops, tablets as well as enterprise routers and IIoT gateways.

The LN920 data card has high download speeds of 300 to 600Mbit per second (the Cat. 6 (LN92046-WW) and LTE Cat. 12 / LN920A12-WW respectively). It is also characterised by GNSS positioning. The broad frequency band support ensures it works worldwide, said Rutronik. The distributor offers the LN920 LTE variants Cat. 6 or Cat. 12.

The data card supports all cellular bands between 600MHz and 3.7GHz, including Band 14 (First Responder) and Band 48 (CBRS). This makes it suitable for private and public LTE applications worldwide, confirmed Rutronik. Combined with pre-certifications by regulators and Tier 1 operators in Europe, Australia, the USA, Japan and Canada, the LN920 supports rapid development of global SKU (stock keeping unit) devices.

Maintenance for Telit’s standard 3GPP and custom AT commands are included in both Cat.6 and Cat. 12 variants. The data cards support security features qualified for enterprise applications, such as secure environment SE Linux and secure boot.

Operating temperature range is -40 to + 85 degrees C.

Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente was founded in 1973 and is an independent family-owned company which claims to be one of the world‘s leading broadline distributors. Rutronik is represented worldwide with more than 80 offices and can guarantee comprehensive customer support including Europe, Asia, and the USA.

The broad product portfolio includes semiconductors, passive and electromechanical components as well as embedded boards, storage and displays, and wireless products. Mouser adds Texas Instruments sensor evaluation module

Described as easy to use, the IWR6843LEVM is a 60GHz mmWave sensor evaluation platform for the IWR6843 with an FR4-based antenna. Available from distributor, Mouser Electronics, the IWR6843LEVM may be used to evaluate both the IWR6843 and IWR6443 sensors.

This evaluation module enables access to point cloud data and power over USB interfaces. The IWR6843LEVM supports direct connectivity to the MMWAVEICBOOST and DCA1000EVM development kits. IWR6843LEVM contains everything required to develop software for on-chip C67x digital signal processor (DSP) cores, hardware accelerators (HWAs), and low-power Arm Cortex-R4F controllers, confirmed Mouser.

Texas Instruments’ IWR6832LEVM is supported by mmWave tools and software, namely mmWave studio (MMWAVE-STUDIO) and the mmWave software development kit (MMWAVE-SDK). Additional boards may be used to enable additional functionality. For example, DCA1000EVM allows access to the sensor’s raw data via a low-voltage differential signalling (LVDS) interface. The MMWAVEICBOOST development kit allows software development and trace capabilities via Code Composer Studio (CCSTUDIO). IWR6843LEVM paired with MMWAVEICBOOST can interface with the MCU LaunchPad development kit ecosystem.

The sensor evaluation module has four receive (4RX) three transmit (3TX) antenna with 120 degrees azimuth field of view (FoV) and 80 degree elevation FoV.

Discrete DC/DC power management includes onboard capability for power-consumption monitoring.
