Lemo expands high-speed data connector portfolio

USB 3.1 and single pair Ethernet connectors expand Lemo’s high-speed connector portfolio.

The company has completed its existing USB 2.0-compliant portfolio with a new range of USB 3.1 connectors providing data transfer speed up to 10Gbits per second.

The connectors have inserts which ensure optimum shielding and absolute signal integrity. They are also equipped with a pair of USB 2.0 contacts to ensure backwards compatibility as well as a low voltage power contact.

The company is also extending its Ethernet-compliant portfolio that includes 1000 Base-T4 and 10G Base-T4-compliant solutions with a range of single pair Ethernet (SPE) connectors providing data transfer speed up to 1Gbits per second.

The miniature models are available with either one or two high-speed SPE pairs, and are claimed to ensure robust, safe and lasting compact integrations.

These new configurations for both USB 3.1 and SPE guarantee high-quality and reliable high-speed interconnect solutions for both indoor and outdoor environments where absolute signal integrity is needed. They are available in Lemo’s B, K and T series.

Lemo designs and manufactures precision custom connection and cable solutions. Its Push-Pull connectors are used in a variety of challenging application environments including medical, industrial control, test and measurement, audio-video and telecommunications.

Lemo has been designing precision connectors for over seven decades. Offering more than 90,000 combinations of products that continue to grow through customer-specific designs, Lemo and its affiliated sister companies Redel, Northwire and Coelver currently serve more than 100,000 customers in over 80 countries around the world.

NeoCortec P Series NeoMesh wireless module can be integrated to PCBs

NeoCortec, manufacturer of bi-directional wireless mesh network modules, has released its P Series of wireless NeoMesh modules. Featuring an RF/IO antenna connection placed under the module on solder pads for quick and easy soldering to any PCB, the company claims the P Series modules allow for a more efficient antenna design as well as more compact design of the sensor or actuator and allow customers to integrate Neocortec’s NeoMesh modules into their own PCB with the antenna also already integrated.

The new NeoMesh modules, NC1000P-8, NC1000P-9 and NC2400P, operate at 868MHz, 915MHz and 2.4GHz respectively and complement the C-Series modules that come with an u.FL connector and are used whenever an external connector is wanted. Cost efficient and easy to integrate, all the modules from NeoCortec suit a broad range of applications based on IoT and Cloud-based sensor networks, including smart home and smart workplace, metering, security, agriculture, transportation, Industry 4.0, medical and food distribution.

NeoMesh from NeoCortec is a protocol enabling node-to-node mesh communication of sensors, without any need for mains-powered devices. All devices can be battery-powered, as can the gateway. To start building the network, simply switch on two nodes. When switched on additional nodes will automatically join the existing network and will start expanding it in a number of devices in range. The NeoCortec communication modules are equipped with radio and NeoMesh and can easily be integrated in a sensor or motor.

NeoCortec is a supplier of ultra-low-power bi-directional wireless mesh network modules. NeoCortec is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Compact SBC by AAEON is available from Review Display Systems

The de next-TGU8 is the latest compact single board computer (SBC) from Aaeon and it is available from Review Display Systems (RDS). It has up to four cores, with eight threads, powered by 11th Generation Intel Core i7, i5, and i3 processors.

According to the RDS, the de next-TGU8 marks the beginning of a new generation in SBC because it creates a highly compact board featuring an on-board Intel Core i-level processor. The board’s outline dimensions are just 84 x 55mm.

Despite its compact form factor, the SBC offers a high level of integration and performance, supporting 16Gbyte onboard LPDDR4x memory, together with I/O and multiple expansion options. The de next-TGU8 is designed to facilitate a high speed interface with dual RJ45 ethernet ports, two USB 3.2 Gen2 and four USB 2.0 slots, and a dual display interface supported with HDMI and eDP ports.

There are also expansion options for a variety of add-on modules. Expansion accessories include an FPC slot for PCIe x4 Gen 3 with riser kit, for additional storage or more advanced graphics options.

The de next-TGU8 also contains an M.2 2280 key slot (PCIe x 2), enabling users to combine different expansion modules to suit different application needs, such as AI acceleration, Wi-Fi, and 4G network modules.

Peter Marchant, embedded business manager, RDS said, “The data processing ability of the new Aaeon de next-TGU8 ensures it is capable of powering the next generation of AI-based applications including smart systems, factory automation and robotics technology. The combination of small form factor, versatility and connectivity enable the de next-TGU8 to be used in a wide range of application environments.”

Established in 1982, RDS has experience supporting and supplying display and embedded hardware solutions. The distributor supports a comprehensive range of display technologies, touch screen and embedded computing solutions.

Review Display Systems engages and develops partnerships with customers in a wide range of industry sectors including industrial control and instrumentation, medical devices, facilities management, marine, aerospace, point-of-information, and process control.

A strong commitment to environmental responsibility and quality is reinforced with accreditation to the latest internationally recognised quality standards including ISO14001, ISO9001-2015 and ISO13485:2016 for the design and manufacture of medical devices.

Slim IP67 Wirepas Mesh tag can track in high density networks

Asset tracking in hospitals, offices, warehouses and factories can be achieved using a mesh unit, or tag, with built-in Wirepas Mesh 2.4GHz network connectivity by Fujitsu Components America. When used with Fujitsu’s IoT connectivity anchors, sensor nodes, or USB dongle products, the FWM8BLZ14T mesh tag enables the creation of large, high density networks which operate autonomous rerouting in the event of device failure or changes in the network environment.

The IP67-rated tag is water resistant, so stains, particles, and liquids (such as chemicals, medications, and blood) may be washed off without risk of damage. The battery housing (patent-pending) is designed to facilitate easy battery replacement by end-users. It also contributes to environmentally friendly, sustainable use, said Fujitsu Components.

The tag is only 5.8mm thick, so it can be placed between stacked equipment. Two screw holes allow for three mounting options. The tag can be directly mounted, or mounted using an optional bracket to securely attach the tag to the desired location, or the hole in the tag can be used to attach the tag with a strap or lanyard. If screws are not used, the screw holes may be sealed with fitted white or coloured plugs for identification purposes.

The FWM8BLZ14T also includes an embedded pattern antenna, a carrier frequency of 2,400 to 2,483.5MHz, a modulation/symbol rate of GFSK / 1Mbits per second and the ability to operate at temperature and humidity levels of -30 to +70 degrees C and 20 per cent RH to 80 per cent, respectively.

A push switch functionality allows the unit to be used to convey crisis messages, trigger alarms, or locate individuals in an emergency. The tag operates on 40 channels, with spacing of 2MHz and runs on a coin cell CR3032 lithium battery (not included). The tag measures 52.8 x 35.9 x 5.8mm.

Samples are available in December 2022, and orders will be accepted in January 2023.

Fujitsu Components America distributes electronic and system components and sub-systems throughout North and South America. Its product portfolio includes relays, touch panels, thermal printers, wireless modules and input and pointing devices.

The company is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, USA.
